With a team leader who’s tended to the tresses of Hollywood royalty Catherine Zeta-Jones and strolled the Oscars red carpet alongside her, Fox Salon and Brows in Broadbeach, Queensland is the place to go for A-List grooming on the Gold Coast.
The first thing you notice when entering Fox Hair and Brows, is the uncluttered white surrounds, with oversized beauty beds placed strategically throughout the open-plan floor. It’s like walking into hair heaven.
“We renovated in 2006,” explains owner Carolyn Fox, who’s the only stylist in Australia to have trained under LA-based brow shaping legend Anastasia Soare (Soare styles the arches of Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Madonna and Kim Catrall).

“I definitely wanted our eyebrow area to stand out, but it was important to have clean lines surrounding each hair station. Importantly, I wanted the salon to be bright and uncomplicated to welcome new clients.”
In 13 years of operation, the salon has become the place to go for Gold Coast grooming, thanks to Carolyn’s eye for international trends and techniques.
“My intention is to always find new products and research new techniques, so I travel extensively to the USA and Europe. I visit the best salons, looking for inspiration, services and products.”

Carolyn’s business savvy was further stimulated after a chance meeting with Catherine Zeta-Jones some years ago.
“We looked after her when she was filming here,” explains Carolyn. “I became good friends with her publicist, who took me to the Academy Awards five times. Being up close to some of the most beautiful women in the world made me want to learn more about their styling secrets and share it with my clients. Our goal is for all clients to look and feel like a celebrity.”
Aside from utter pampering, the salon’s strength is its colour service.
“We’re known especially for blondes, but our aim is to achieve a stylish look for every client, which we achieve by team brainstorming in consultation.”
Fox Hair and Brows won the Schwarzkopf Oasis 2006 competition with this look.
That team includes a family of star players who have worked on Mercedes Fashion Festival Brisbane 2008, music videos, editorial photo shoots and competition work (the salon won 2002 L’Oreal Colour Trophy and 2006 Schwarzkopf Oasis competition).
“I’m very lucky to have passionate, loyal and dedicated people working along side of me,” says Carolyn. “We all trust and support each other. It’s a recipe for success.”
