January Salon of the Month
Del Aqua Hair and Beauty

By Shonagh Walker
January 9 2009

There’s nothing like a sparkling harbour view to lull you into complete relaxation. Unless you team it with top to toe pampering!

Italian- inspired hair haven, Del Aqua Hair and Beauty delivers just that. It’s a one-stop spa offering world-class beauty and hair care on the harbour.

”Our intention was to bring a piece of Milan to the area,” explains Managing Director Angela Delic. “The Italian theme allows clients to experience a sense of hedonistic opulence, being pampered, taking in the breathtaking Harbour.”

From the moment you enter the white-tiled, marble reception, a feeling of peacefulness washes over you.

“Top quality service is our promise,” says Angela. “There is no production line here. All our clients receive our undivided time and attention, as though they are each an ‘A’ list celebrity.”

Clients receive a relaxation scalp and shoulder massage before shampooing, and when they leave the basin for the chair to having their hair transformed, they receive a hand massage and a glass of bubbles.

“There is no such thing as ‘no’ at Del Aqua,” reveals Angela. “We are available whenever our clients need us. We are happy to work later and by appointment on Sunday to avoid disappointment.”

With a superior artistic team from around the globe, the services on offer are top notch.

Creative Director Anthony Talbot, recently re-located from London after working on the BBC documentary ‘Wanted Down Under’, has more twenty years of high fashion cutting and colouring under his belt. He’s worked and taught with prestigious companies Matrix, Revlon and L’Oreal.

Salon Manager Bernadette Talbot has been Anthony’s technical director for over ten years, while master stylist Damien Anderson has maintained a loyal clientele in Sydney for over fifteen years.

Together, they predict hair this summer will be “less contrived, wild, natural looking and long. Waves will look less tamed, created with ghd’s. Hair extensions must look real.”

When it comes to brows, Del Aqua has one of the best in the business, with celebrated brow artist Diana Schofield giving clients her famed ‘brow mapping’, with results akin to a mini facelift.

Skin care is not forgotten, with therapist Tilly Barnet individualizing treatments to each client with Priori anti-ageing skin care. Microdermabrasion, massage and the Yoga Coffee Berry facial are also on offer.
