Although the People salon has only been around for a few short months,
it has already worked with some very exciting clients. The salon styled
the locks for local and international talent at this year’s MTV
Australia Awards, as well as working on Australia’s Next Top Model and
Hollywood A-listers Mischa Barton and rapper Eve.
If People
owner Hamish Glianos had to pick a highlight for the salon, he recalls
the visit from one of the biggest pop groups in the world today: the
Pussycat Dolls.
“Every man’s dream!” he proudly says.
Providing
access to the world of celebrities as well as world class education are
but a couple of the job perks the People team enjoys.
“Our
team is offered many opportunities with either television and media
events or industry focussed education which we believe helps keep them
aspiring to learn and want more out of their careers,” he says.
Glianos, who is named as a Hairdresser of the Year finalist at this year’s Hair Expo Awards,
believes the secret to the salon’s success is providing the very best
in hairdressing skill within a relaxed and friendly environment.
“Most
of our business is referral based,” he tells myhairdressersearch. “If a
client enjoys the experience and walks out with a modern, wearable cut
and colour, I’m sure they’ll have no hesitation recommending their
colourist or stylist to anyone who asks.”
As any salon owner may tell you, having a happy team of stylists is vital to the productivity of the workplace.
“It is the most important factor in any business!” Glianos believes.
A
productive salon will have a team that is stable, motivated, passionate
and educated. The energy created from a happy group of stylists
translated onto the salon floor where the team can share their
experiences with the client and which in turn will make the client
confident in their choice of stylist.
“My team is my
inspiration,” Glianos says. “They are all so energetic and keen to
learn. I have always maintained the strength is in our youth and want
to grow our team and business from the people within it.”
With MTV and international megastars as some of his clients, what looks does Glianos think will be big this coming winter?
“Hair is becoming sleek and sharp. Gwyneth Paltrow’s shoulder length bob is a classic example.
“We
are moving away from the heavily layered, bouncy Hollywood glam and
back to sophisticated, elegant looks. Bolder, more solid colour is
becoming more apparent.”
