When did VN open?

Vogue Nationale Hair Design was established 30 years ago - the brand has been around ever since in a few different forms and locations. We currently have 16 staff members.

What sort of clients does VN attract?

The Vogue Nationale client is someone who cares about quality and style. Our clientele really appreciate our boutique sensibility and our incredibly skilled team of hairdressers.

What would you say makes VN stand out from the pack?

The quality and precision of our work is what continues to drive our success. Our longevity in the industry is something that not many salons can boast - and we are incredibly proud of our history.

What have been some highlights for the salon so far?

Celebrating the milestone of 30 years is pretty exciting in itself. We have been fortunate enough to have achieved many accolades including Todd Arndt (salon owner) being awarded Hairdresser of the Year and our current salon site being voted as Best New Salon at Hair Expo.



Is there any work VN specialises in?


At Vogue, we have such an amazing group of artists that nothing is beyond our skill. Certain staff definitely specialise in their favoured aspect of the craft. For example, Jim (salon owner) is an ambassador for Redken and presents nationally for the mandatory seminar - which is a presentation open to all hairdressers and salon owners incorporating all facets of men’s hairdressing including haircuts, colours and men’s retail knowledge.

Todd is another stylist who loves focusing on his session styling work. Being a part of Redken in the National Hair Director program affords him the opportunity to get to all the major fashion events in the country.

How do you keep your staff motivated?

Our staff are motivated by many factors which drastically change throughout their careers. Although we are first and foremost a creative salon, we do give our staff target structures to keep them motivated with regards to service/product knowledge and recommendation.

Our staff meets with the salon manager once per month to discuss general performance, education and training opportunities and goal setting. The constant stimulation with regards to these crucial elements of hairdressing is of utmost importance to keep staff morale high and productivity even higher.

Can you tell us what's next for VN in the near future?


Here at Vogue Nationale, like many salons at this time of the year, are getting prepared for a bumper Christmas season. Most of the Fashion Week, photoshoot and external work is winding down for the year, making way for a very busy silly season.
