Tucked away in Kings Lane, in Sydney’s Darlinghurst, the Dario Cotroneo salon counts A-list celebs, corporate tycoons and media heavyweights among their loyal clientele.

One of Australia’s leading colourists, Nastassja Fotiadis has now joined the team at the Dario Cotroneo salon and brings along her extensive talents to the salon’s colour division.

Already a favourite of Sydney’s magazine set, Nastassja combines her experience, enthusiasm and flair for fashion to create up-to-the-minute looks that are expertly tailored to each individual client.

Nastassja took five minutes from her busy schedule to speak to myhairdresssersearch.

Why did you decide to pick a career in hair?

I was always a very creative person and chose hairdressing because I felt I could express myself and my creative passion through it.

Where did you complete your apprenticeship?

At Glow in Sydney’s CBD

Where does your inspiration come from?

Family, fashion and music!

What is your favourite part of your role?

Transforming people and making them feel great about themselves.

What is your advice to clients going grey?

This is a very personal choice. Some clients feel confident about showing some grey and there are a lot of techniques that work with the grey hair to make it look amazing. If the client is not at ease with the idea, I would always advise covering it up to make them feel comfortable with their image. No matter what, they need to leave the salon feeling beautiful.

How can clients maintain their colour in between salon visits?

I always recommend salon colour shampoos, conditioners, treatments and styling products. These play a vital part in maintaining the colour and condition of the hair.

What have been your career highlights so far?

Completing a Vidal Sassoon course in LA and joining the amazing team at Dario Cotroneo salon.
