To borrow a well-known saying, it only feels like yesterday when we attended one of the most important events on the hairdressing industry’s calendar, Hair Expo 2009.

Hair Expo season is set to kick off again as today marks the opening call for submissions for the awards, traditionally held on the last evening of the Hair Expo weekend.

The longest running hairdressing awards in the Southern Hemisphere are set to be more fierce than ever before as all categories, with the exception of Australian Hairdresser of the Year, will now be open to New Zealand entrants.

As Australian hair stylists and colourists face strong competition from across the Tasman, hairdressers from both countries will be forced to step up their game as previously the only category open to NZ entrants was New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year.

To reflect the invitation opening to NZ stylists, a team of well respected NZ hair masters will join their Australian counterparts in the 20-strong judging panel for Hair Expo 2010.

Entries must be received by March 9 at 5pm.
