Winter 2008 will see Australian men succumb to the extreme undercuts
infiltrating the world of male grooming, says Dale Dorning, celebrity hair & makeup artist and PPS Hairwear ambassador.
|
“They’ll be paying homage to early ‘New Romantics’-inspiration – think Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet, circa early 80s, mixed in with the strong use of colour,” Dorning says.
Rockabilly will also be very evident for men, as will ‘fading’.
“What I am noticing in the US is a technique called fading – where the style starts from skin and fades into hair,” Dorning says.
“Disconnected military style buzz cuts and flat tops will also be prominent, giving a nod to no-fuss, easy to maintain styles.”

To help recreate these styles Dorning, ambassador for PPS Hairwear, suggests the following products:
PPS Matt Mudd, $11.50 Great as it has a drier texture that can be used in both slightly damp and dry hair. It has minimal shine but great hold.
I
always warm waxes, pomades and muds in my hands first. Place a small
amount in your palm, rub to heat and then apply from the back of the
head, moving your hands upwards through the hair and finishing at the
front. This way, you can always add extra product without the hairstyle
looking overloaded with product.
PPS Softer Waxx, $11.50 Fantastic
when used solo or mixed with Matt Mudd – I used this to style Brian
McFadden’s hair on his latest CD cover shoot. It works so well as the
hair remains malleable. It also allows me to wet the hair and
re-energise with a blast from the blow-dryer, and still delivers light
control and great shine.
PPS Shape It & PPS Gelee Waxx, both $11.50 For
the great 40s-style slick back I love a combination of these two. The
mix gives a great shine, minimal hold and texture, and it shampoos
right out of the hair.
