These simple summer style ideas are perfect for fighting frizz, flatness and most of all, boredom!
1. Wear Waves
Forget smooth and silky strands, waves are back. The idea being deliciously beachy without ever appearing bedraggled. If you’re blessed with naturally wavy locks, lucky you! Simply wash your hair and scrunch sea salt spray into your damp locks before leaving them to air dry.
2. Undone Bun
If you don’t have natural waves, work a small amount of stying cream through damp hair before rough blow-drying using your fingers instead of a brush. Pull hair back with your fingers and fasten it into a ponytail at eye level. Then twist and wrap hair to make a bun, and pin in place. Pull some of the pieces around the crown for a more dishevelled look.
3. Low ponytail
Ponytails are irresistibly girlish and are a great way of disguising a bad hair day. Casually sexy, understated and versatile, low ponytails work for the beach, office or red carpet. Just change the feeling of the style with the hair’s texture. This season, keep the tail smooth, but leave the flyaway’s on top and around the face so it looks less prim.
4. Taking Sides
Create a deep side part by using a tail comb on dry hair to fashion a parting that’s in line with the highest point of your eyebrow arch on one side of your face. Then draw locks back into a low, loose ponytail – you’ll have an instant, flirty side swept fringe. To keep unruly partings in place, apply hairspray, or slip in a bobby pin.
5. Half Up, Half Down
Half ponytails have gone from pre-teen to decidedly grown up this summer. Blow-dry the front section and tie it back in a loose half-up, half-down ponytail. It should look like you’ve had your hair done and then rolled around in a steamy embrace! It’s the imperfection that makes it look modern.
6. Band Aid
Not only do they secure your hair back from your face, but they also help you make the most of two-day-old hair and can also disguises a fringe that needs a trim. You can create your own headband out of satin ribbon or elastic, but less crafty types should stick to store-bought versions.
7. Braidy Bunch
There’s a real ease and coolness to wearing one low, loose braid. The best bit?
Plaits work best on unwashed hair. Start by disguising oily roots with a spritz
of dry shampoo at the roots, and then start plaiting two inches below the nape
of the neck for a fuss-free, summer style.
