Nicole Kidman and Australia
By Rob Kotevski November 19 2008

Thousands of eager fans braved the elements at Sydney’s premiere of the blockbuster film Australia to catch a glimpse of the A-listers that walked the red carpet on George St, in the CBD.

Stars of the film Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman mingled with fans and the media as they made their way up the red carpet to launch the Australian epic to local audiences.

Kidman and Jackman were joined by their respective spouses, country crooner Keith Urban and Australian actress Deborah-Lee Furness, along with Australia’s director, Aussie mastermind Baz Luhrman, who also directed Moulin Rouge! and Strictly Ballroom.

As any A-lister knows, come rain, hail or shine the show must go on. The Australian Hollywood contingent faced the rainy weather to greet fans, speak to reporters and dazzle the paparazzi.

Mother Nature proved once again she’s got a twisted sense of humour as Kidman and Jackman attended the premiere of the most expensive film ever to be shot in Australia.

A veteran of red carpet events, Kidman proved it’s important to protect your hair against the elements, both at Australia’s premiere and during the film’s production.

During filming in Darwin, the harsh and dry weather played havoc with Kidman’s hair. The solution was the John Frieda Collection Frizz-Ease Thermal Hair Serum and Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Hairspray. The John Frieda products proved to be miracle workers and were the unsung heroes of the film - they helped fight frizz and manage hair styles on all members of the cast.

Hair on the set of Australia was directed by Kerry Warn, John Frieda International Creative Consultant.

Kerry is a Perth-born, London-based hair expert at John Frieda and has been with the brand for many years.

He was based in remote Australia during the filming of the epic film and worked again with his long-time friend Kidman. They had previously worked together on the films The Golden Compass, Bewitched and Eyes Wide Shut.
