Fresh, modern looks appeared alongside avant-garde creations that wouldn’t have been out of place in Tudor England at the launch of Flux - Toni and Guy’s 2009 collection.
One of the most talked about events on the fashion and beauty calendar, Toni&Guy Mainstage London this year broke the mould for the first time in 45 years, as the premier event left the shores of the UK and set up camp in Australia. History was made as Australia showcased its dedication and talent to the world.
The crème de la crème of the hairdressing industry joined A-listers and the beauty and fashion media in the event many claimed was on par with that of London Fashion Week.
Truly on the cutting edge, the Flux collection featured influences from designers such as DKNY and Stella McCartney as well as some urban street wear flavours. The colours were vivid - think reds, pinks, purples, and yellows. Flux demonstrated both haircutting and colouring flair in palette and technique, resulting in a collection that was fashion-forward and progressive while still capturing mainstream commercial appeal.
The MTV-style presentations continued with the Wella Professionals getting the chance to present their best work. Harnessing the power of the new salon-exclusive Colour Touch Plus line, the hues ranged from warm golden browns to molten reds that complemented the evening cocktail dresses.
Avant-garde fashion and beauty also made an appearance, including bright coloured Elizabethan doll-like creations put together by Suzanne Calla from Stalk Media. Intricate hair looks complete with bows, waves, and knots were teamed with bold make-up that made a statement thanks to the Make Up Store.
