While there are a couple of exceptions, there seems to be an unwritten rule in the entertainment world that states, when it comes to siblings, the older sister will always be more successful and glamorous.

The older Kidman sister has an Academy Award to her name as well as a red carpet wardrobe any self-respecting fashionista would kill for. Dannii Minogue has released some great dance tracks, but the only number one hit she has seen has been on the dance charts, while Kylie has sold millions of records around the world, while regularly selling out tours in Australia and Europe. Beyonce went from being the Diana Ross of girl group Destiny’s Child, to global megastar in her own right, while younger sister Solange’s floundering career took a back seat after a quickie wedding when she fell pregnant.

Thankfully, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz seems to be bucking that trend.

While older sister Jessica tries to put a failed marriage, album flops and a country music career that was over almost as soon as it began behind her, Ashlee has become the new darling of Hollywood, as she stars in the rebooted series of Melrose Place, which premieres next month in the US.

Mrs Pete Wentz has decided to go for a soft auburn shade for her new role on TV’s most scandalous address. myhairdressersearch is a fan and thinks the red shade suits her skin tone.

Many young Hollywood starlets have dabbled with different hair colours. Many have failed. Ashlee has one of those unique skin tones that suit any hair colour she may decide to flirt with, and she’s had a few.

As she made her music debut in 2004 with Autobiography, her album that reached number one on the States, she was sporting an edgy black hair do that made her stand out and step out from under her sister’s shadow.

Her second album, I Am Me, saw her become a blonde. While the shade suited her skin tone, Ashlee almost looked like every other blonde pop starlet out there.

The new red shade Ashlee has settled on looks sophisticated without ageing her and we hope this colour hangs around for a while.
