The buzz is getting louder. The excitement around Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in Sydney is definitely getting bigger.
Preparations are taking place at Circular Quay, a major hub in Sydney’s CBD. The venue is a stone’s throw away from the Museum of Contemporary Art and it has a gorgeously unobstructured view of the Sydney Opera House, recently the host of the
Australian Hair Fashion Awards
. The harbour is one of the most beautiful in the world and the view by day is only beaten by the glittering view of the city at night.
As the excitement grows, myhairdressersearch has a chat to Kenneth Stoddart, Hair Director for Redken who will be backstage directing hair at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. He gave us a sneak peak at what looks will be popular on the runway at this year’s fashion week.
1. There will definitely be a lean towards the era’s between the 1940s and 1980s.
2. Hair is likely to be up off the neck, most commonly in a French Roll. We saw the beginning of this last season with the amazing French Rolls that Guido Palau created for the Prada campaign.
3. Hair will be often teased at front to give height off the face and then twisted into a roll at the back, keeping the nape tight and flat to the head. This style is very flattering to most women as it elongates the neck and gives lift off the face. Hair can be left out at the front to soften the look (think Brigitte Bardot).
4. There is a toughness in the hair this season which again is reminiscent of the 80s. Quiffs, rolls, lacquered, teased etc. If hair is worn down it is often given a low side part and then the hair is brushed into soft loose waves.
5. Shoulders have been the hottest trend in fashion internationally this season so quite often hair will be blow-dried to give it a richness and fullness. It will be worn behind the shoulders and straight across the bottom.
