In an episode of Sex and the City, Carrie bumps into an old friend while hanging out in a Manhattan bar with her gay husband, Stanford. Carrie’s friend is the brains and brawn behind a New York fashion show featuring some of the world’s top supermodels (including Heidi Klum) that will strut their stuff down the runway alongside New York residents. She insists TV’s best dressed woman models as one of the “ordinary” New Yorkers.

“When I first moved to New York and I was totally broke, sometimes I would buy Vogue instead of dinner. I just felt it fed me more,” Carrie says in that famous episode.
