Stylin’ summer strands are embracing “strong perimeters, with internal layering,” says Zoe Harris from Be Ba Beau in WA. “It’s all about movement, texture, natural styling and shorter, feminine cuts.”
Shorter indeed. Take a look at Posh. Now watch the pixie crop spread like a Mexican wave at an NRL final.
Girls who don’t lop their locks, should go all out long, says Mark Jones from Torquil Murray in Sydney. “I like to see hair with a lot of length, a lot of swing and very few layers. It’s more of a blunt look.”
Feel free to embrace extensions.
As for colour, the hottest summer hue is cool blonde (think Gwen Stefani), according to Valonz’s Diane Gorgievski, Sydney.
It’s high maintenance and hard-to-care-for, but completely worth it.
“It’s a step-by-step process of lightening powders, toners and treatments, says Gorgievski, who believes even brunettes can achieve it.
It’s a lot about client commitment. “Refreshments are advised every four weeks, with a strong need for at-home care.”
And for brunettes? Anthony Nader from RAW, Sydney, predicts a nod to Broadway star Katie Holmes.
“Models are running all over New York sporting that luxe, dramatic colour.”
Those who prefer their hue somewhere in between, will love ‘false regrowth’. Think Sarah Jessica Parker, or the Olsen Twins.
“Hair is worn wavy and natural, but you can see false re-growth,” says Phillip Gallo of Gallo Hair, Sydney. “We tint the regrowth a few shades, so it looks less severe. It’s a perfect sexy summer look.”
