The real Lady Gaga
By Rob Kotevski May 28 2009

Lady Gaga, the biggest pop star on the planet right now, recently made an appearance on an episode of Rove Live.

Gaga, who is currently touring Australia with the Pussycat Dolls, caused a sensation as she promoted her tour and album on the Sunday evening talk show. Lady Gaga hasn’t exactly been a stranger to courting controversy since being catapulted into the spotlight twelve short months ago.

This time around, however, she was the talk of the town not due to her music videos, potty mouth or clothing (or lack thereof).

Lady Gaga has worn some avant garde hair and fashion.

The Poker Face singer sat on Rove’s couch as she happily chatted away about the global financial crisis, among other things. But for all the attention the audience paid to what she was saying, Lady Gaga could have been speaking in ancient Greek and no one would have noticed.

Gaga was sporting what appeared to be a pyramid of blonde profiteroles on her head, with the serious height giving Marge Simpson a run for her money.

As a fan of Lady Gaga, also known as Stefani Germanotta, I have been quite forgiving when it came to the singer’s more adventurous choices in fashion and hair.

As a survivor of one of London’s harshest winters, I accepted but didn’t understand why anyone would walk around the city wearing what appeared to be a leather jacket and a pair of control top briefs.

I even forgave her when she appeared around town wearing a huge bow on her head that looked like it was made out of human hair the same shade as her own.

Does she remind you of another Italian-American who hit the big time in New York City more than twenty-five years ago?

It’s interesting to see a pop star come to fame who actually has a personality, is articulate and whose visuals are just as important as the sounds. The world hasn’t seen a pop star like this for quite some time. Does she remind you of another Italian-American who hit the big time in New York City more than twenty-five years ago?

But back to Gaga’s appearance on Rove. I’m sure the love of even the most fanatic Lady Gaga enthusiast would have been tested when she discussed the recession on Rove wearing the blonde profiterole pyramid.

It all made perfect sense when I attended a hair trends forecasting seminar, hosted by Goldwell.

As each trend was presented to the attendees, two models paraded on a catwalk, showing examples of what we could expect to see this coming winter. The audience was told one of the trends for next winter will be height. Kudos to Lady Gaga, who has proven that she has her finger on the pulse when it comes to trends in music, fashion and hair.

Inspired by haute couture from the runways of Paris, when height was announced as a trend at the seminar, a model strutted out. And guess what was on her head?

A blond profiterole pyramid.

Check out more hot hair.
